When should I start the application process for SJV?
Admissions applications are accepted in November for the following school year. Admissions applications may also be accepted year-round provided there are spaces available.
What are the entrance requirements for different grade levels?

Does SJV accept mid-year transfers?
SJV accepts mid-year transfers provided there is space available.
How competitive is admission to St. John Vianney School?
Admissions are competitive particularly in the more popular transfer grade levels such as preschool, kindergarten, and grade seven.
Academic Questions
What curriculum does SJV follow?
SJV curriculum is aligned to the State of Hawai’i standards and the Hawai’i Catholic School standards.
How does SJV prepare students for high school?
Students are expected to contribute to the school community in various volunteer capacities and in leadership roles to better prepare them for life beyond SJV. Rigorous academics and a variety of extra-curricular activities are also offered.
What is the student-to-teacher ratio at SJV Kailua?
In grades one to eight, the student-to-teacher ratio average is 18 to 1.
What technology is used in the classroom?
Students in kindergarten through grade eight visit the computer lab allowing them access to an inventory of Mac desktops. The kindergarten through grade five students have access to the school’s iPad library when needed. The middle school students participate in a 1:1 iPad program.

SJV is in the Enchanted Lakes area of Kailua, approximately 5 miles from Kailua Town.

How does pick-up and drop-off work?
During drop-off parents drive onto the campus using the driveway closest to the Church, enter the vehicle queue, and stop in front of the main classroom building. The JPOs will then open car doors for students to exit their vehicle. Vehicles will then proceed out using the exit driveway between the administrative building and the parish hall. Pick-up mimics the same procedure with students loaded into vehicles in the queue.
What should my child wear? (uniform details)
Students wear a school uniform consisting of a green polo with the school logo, khaki bottoms, socks and closed toe shoes. On PE days, students will wear their PE uniform. Students may also wear traditional aloha wear on Fridays.
Does SJV provide lunch or is it brought from home?
Parents have the option of purchasing lunch from a third-party vendor either monthly or quarterly or packing their child a home lunch.
What happens on early dismissal days?
Early dismissal days allow the faculty and staff to meet once a week and/or engage in professional development days.

St. John Vianney School utilizes the FACTS online financial aid application for all grade levels (ELC and K-8). Prior to submitting your application, select St. John Vianney School as a recipient of your submission.
