Empowering our keiki to make a difference-

It starts with us!

At SJV we are proudly empowering our keiki with the knowledge and practice that no matter how young, they have the power to make a positive impact! This month, our parish and school ‘ohana worked together to collect clothing and hygiene donations for Kahauiki Village. Kahauiki Village is a chapter of the IHS foundation providing transitional housing to families living through a variety of challenging situations. Our SJV students showed outstanding leadership in labeling the collection bins, organizing incoming donations based on clothing size, or items such as toys, art supplies, towels, blankets etc. and loading up the dropoff cars with countless heavy bags of donations. In just 10 school days, we filled over 25 45-gallon contractor-size trash bags FULL of donations, along with a variety of boxes and smaller bags of additional donated items. Two parishioners volunteered to do drop-offs, resulting in a successful parish-school collaboration! Making a difference starts with us!
